Since 1995 I have been working in information technology industry, helping people build resilient and secure software systems to protect their sensitive information from threats like theft, corruption, and unauthorized access.
Since 2002 I’ve been working with EldoS, a leading provider of information security software solutions. Back in 2016 EldoS was acquired by /n software, a US security company, but continued to exist as a separate division, offering the traditionally highest quality security solutions.
My hands-on experience in cybersecurity is complemented by academic qualifications received in Kyiv National University (Ukraine), from which I was awarded my MSc (2004) and PhD (2010) degrees, and by continuous professional development. I am very lucky to be able to work with smart people coming from all possible industries, backgrounds, and walks of life, which also means I’m never stopping learning.
Remarkable developments in technology and society in recent decades brought in tremendous improvements to our standard of living, but they also came with unfortunate side effects. We became wasteful in our consumption. We are taking for granted what inherently needs to be repaid, thus accumulating huge technical, monetary, and moral debts. We became too focused on ever-distant targets that we ambitiously nominate as “success” and “growth”, which in reality just make us too self-centered, too polarised, and too commercialised. The brilliance of human mind became subservient to the ruthlessness of human greed. We fight and die where we could share and grow. I believe in responsible commerce, in the power of an honest contract, and in the wrongness of zero-sum games, and I see promotion of those values as part of my mission here on Earth.
Engineering of brilliant products, as well as secure design and everything around it, remain to be of my highest professional interest and part of my everyday work. My smaller, but no less important interests include building efficient software development processes, artificial and natural intelligence, designing safe and resilient interfaces, and arriving at win-win solutions in despairingly dead-end situations.
